This is well thought-out...are you concerned about the ethical issues of taping people without their knowledge or consent? I don't know that I'm saying you shouldn't do this, but the very question adds richness to your piece, I think. Are you familiar with the documentaries made by Michael Moore? If so what do you think of how he goes about revealing the more sordid aspects of daily life?
